Snow Crab Introduction

The area 19 snow crab fishery takes place every July and August in Northern Cape Breton. This site will showcase showcase the fishery from the perspective of one vessel, the "Wendy Helen" during the 2006 season.

For background information on the fishery please check out the Area 19 Snow Crab Association and Government of Canada "Snow Crab Fact Sheet" web sites.

The Area 19 Snow Crab Fisherman and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans has a co-management agreement to govern the Area 19 Snow Crab Fishery. To learn about the "Integrated Fisheries Management Plan 2001-2010" visit the Department of Fisheries and Oceans web site.

For those who do not want extra reading, there is a page coming soon with all the basic information you may want.
